I saw a child …

by John Anthony Davies

I saw a child who couldn’t walk, sit on a horse, laugh and talk
Then ride through a field of daisies and yet he could not walk unaided.

I saw a child, no legs below, sit on a horse, make it go through woods of green
and places he had never been to sit and stir except from a chair.

I saw a child who could only crawl, mount a horse and sit up tall
Put it through degrees of paces and laugh at the wonder in our faces

I saw a child borne into strife, take up and hold the reins of life
and that same child was heard to say Thank god for showing the way.

100 acres rolling over 3 rising berms separated by several rainbow streams located on Grey Road 12, south of Highway 26 in the Municipality of Meaford, a major tourism area known as The Georgian Triangle. The facility has enhanced the natural setting by adding shrubbery such as lilacs and roses along new winding roadways and trails and protected streams and fish habitat with various bridges for crossings and rustic fencing to protect stream shorelines. From the top berm one can view Georgian Bay or the valley below.

The main complex on the 2nd berm houses 22 stalls including wash stall, 75' x 145' x 18' steel indoor arena, 20' x 65' 2nd story steel and concrete lounge overlooking indoor arena, 250' x 150' main outdoor arena surrounded by Z-shaped grassed hill serving as a natural bleacher, 75' round pen substantial perimeter concrete and gravel driveway/parking, steel hay building and concrete manure storage. Several large paddocks surround the main facility. Two other sand arenas and a grass arena are at the base of the 2nd berm enabling a number of competition events to be held concurrently.

"To Attain Excellence", you must care more than others think is wise, risk more than others think is safe, dream more than others think is practical" is the moto that Y Not and its owners Gillian and Ron Lubinski will strive to abide.

Y Not Farms and Equestrian Centre is more than just another stable and riding facility with many arenas it is about "Horses as companions and teachers with both mount and rider gaining self esteem and respect for either during their development". Y Not will be a place which will strive to put a smile on people's faces. Although Y Not will serve various riding disciplines concentration will be for Reining as a foundation equestrian discipline. Reining provides action through rundowns, sliding stops spins and lead changes with speed changes through precise patterns.

Y Not Farms would like to send a special thanks to Mills Construction Products for supplying the scaffold bleachers for our events.
